Dear Grade 5,
I will keep this biweekly update very brief as I am certain that most of your are now out of China and well into holiday mode.
These past two weeks sailed by, and we achieved a lot. We have started constructing our aquaponics system, and we finished producing our maps as part of the geography component for the unit. Just wait until you see the student's ancient pirate maps.
We also had many fun celebrations including our last day of school pyjama day (yes, I'm Australian and we spell it 'pyjamas' :) ).
Grade 5 joined with grade 4 to build gingerbread houses and we had some pretty spectacular results. I'm sure you have seen (and hopefully eaten) your own child's gingerbread house by now. I will post some photos of all the houses made by grade 5.
Well, when we come back we will have our final two weeks of unit 2, before we move on to the next unit. I would like to keep up the momentum of having the students complete their homework consistently and embody the QISS ESLRs and our classroom behaviour charter.
I wish you all a very Merry Xmas and a wonderful, safe, fun and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
See you in 2014!
Warm regards,
Mr. Matthews
